Deciding to drink responsibly is your choice. This summer you may be in a situation where you need to make choices about whether you will drink alcohol and how much. Know the facts about alcohol and learn some practical ways that you can drink responsibly.
Facts:
Following the Low Risk Drinking Guidelines can reduce your risk of injuries, violence, health and other problems.
Mixing alcohol with other drugs can increase your risk or injuries, violence, health and other problems.
No amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy.
Alcohol impairs your ability to drive.
How to Drink Responsibly:
Follow the Low Risk Drinking Guidelines
Eat food before and while you are drinking.
Have mocktails more often. These are tasty non-alcoholic drinks for people of all ages. Recipes are available.
Wait at least one hour between alcoholic drinks. Have a non-alcoholic drink after each alcoholic drink:
Non-alcoholic --- Alcoholic --- Non-alcoholic
Do not mix alcohol with illegal drugs or energy drinks.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to have alcohol when you are taking medication.
Do not drink alcohol if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant.
Never drive after drinking alcohol.
