CAPITAL BREWERY WINS GOLD AGAIN WITH AUTUMNAL FIRE

Limited edition doppelbock takes top honors for the third time

at nation’s largest tasting competition

MIDDLETON, WI (Oct 14, 2008) — Autumnal Fire, a limited edition doppelbock beer from Capital

Brewery, earned a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival, held Oct. 9-11 in Denver, Colorado.

It was selected from 19 different entries in the “German-Style Strong Bock” category. This is the third

time this beer was so honored at the Festival; it was awarded a gold medal in 2004, and then again in

2006.

“Being an Octoberfest style beer elevated to doppelbock makes Autumnal Fire a unique standout

in the category,” said Kirby Nelson, Brewmaster at Capital Brewery. “It’s one of our most popular and

noteworthy products.”

According to Festival rules, a gold medal goes only to a beer “that accurately exemplifies the

specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma and appearance.”

First brewed in 1997, Autumnal Fire has won numerous awards. In addition to recognition at

the Great American Beer Festival, it has received five gold medals from the Beverage Testing Institute

World Beer Championships. Autumnal Fire was also honored by a mention in the June 16, 2008 issue of

ForbesLife magazine. In his article entitled “Czech Mate: Free the Clydesdales! Cold beer you can

love”, ForbesLife Senior Editor Richard Nalley listed Autumnal Fire as an example of a brew that is

“complex and smooth-drinking, cold and refreshing, relatively light without abusing the privilege.”

Autumnal Fire, with Blonde Doppelbock, is scheduled for national distribution in key craft beer

markets across the country beginning in 2009. Current it is only available in Wisconsin, as well as parts

of Illinois and Minnesota.

The Great American Beer Festival hosts the world’s largest selection of beers and one of the

world’s largest and most prestigious tasting competitions. Over the years, the Festival has bestowed 17

medals upon Capital Brewery beers in various categories. This year the Festival saw 127 professional

judges from 11 countries evaluating more than 2000 beers from 472 breweries. Gold, silver and bronze

medals were given to beers in 75 different categories.

Capital Brewery Company, Inc. is a publicly held company based in Middleton, Wisconsin. It
